THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR ICONIC BRITISH BAKEWARE BUSINESS

Award-winning bakeware specialists Alan Silverwood’s future has been secured with the announcement of a new owner and Managing Director.

Over the years the company’s range of products have attracted a host of celebrity fans including Mary Berry, Nigella Lawson, Delia Smith and Tom Kerridge impressed by their premium quality and exceptional durability.

All Silverwood bakeware is designed and manufactured by hand at their Design Studio and Factory in Birmingham.

Since its foundation in the Sixties, it has been a family business with Alan’s son Simon Silverwood having served as Managing Director for more than 30 years.

Following an extended period of ill health, Simon has handed over the ownership and running of the business to long-time friend and customer David Jack, in order to ensure it’s continued growth and success.

“I wanted someone with ideas and energy to take the business forward and David has been brilliant,” said Simon.

“David offers continuity but is also able to bring in new initiatives that will revitalise the brand and the range. He is visionary and imaginative – and the only person I wanted to ask: ‘How would you like to run my company?’” he added.

The preferred choice of professional chefs, bakers and home kitchens alike, Silverwood’s signature anodised natural aluminium bakeware range is renowned for its exceptional high-quality, durability and longevity.

Silverwood products have been used extensively on a host of TV cooking programmes including ‘Great British Bake Off’, ‘The Hairy Bikers’, ‘Masterchef’, ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ and ‘Great British Menu’.

In 1992, the company launched a range of products onto the retail market and it now supplies over 400 cook shops on a direct basis together with leading multiples and several overseas distributors.

Silverwood continues to design and launch new bakeware products with a brand new range due out later this year alongside a completely re-designed website.

“I was honoured and overwhelmed when Simon approached me to take over and I am so proud to be able to champion this great British company, its amazing products and its dedicated team,” said new Managing Director David Jack.

“The name Silverwood is synonymous with quality and practicality and I’m looking forward to introducing a whole new set of bakers, cooks and chefs to what we have to offer,” he added.

ln 2015, the Alan Silverwood Simple Simon individual game pie mould won the bakeware category of The Housewares Innovation Awards.
